A Walk

Photo 3-10-2013 7 59 53 pm

Sure, it’s just an old building.

I’m not one for doing street photography,

especially if there is no one to have in the image.

But I was compelled to stop and just take a photo this today.

A nice lady stopped to talk to me about it…

She told me how they had moved…

I don’t know why..

She also told me her husband is a photographer..

I suppose because I had a camera in my hand, and I thought the building was interesting.

I’m not sure why I really like this…

In fact I’m sure very few others will like it….

I took it with my Fuji X100s..

I then edited the image on my iPad while my kids played in a bookstore playground.

So then I stopped and thought of all the effort that went into this.

The building took probably years to build.

The photographer has several years experience.

The camera is worth $1300

The iPad $800

I thought…. Photography isn’t cheap.

Even though this is one of the cheapest cameras I use…

It’s taken me years to take a photo like this…

Is it perfect?

No.

Does it tell a story?

Only to me.

It’s part of my story.

But it’s still a valuable image…

Even if only to me….

I think sometimes we forget the reason we started to take photos in the first place…

It’s to tell a story…

To include others in our stories…

Our lives are inundated with images these days… Our attention spans are getting shorter…

And shorter..

Thank you for taking the time to read about this image…

I hope the images that fill your day will have as much meaning as this little doorway did for me today.
