Matthew Howe
Matthew Howe is a former student of mine who is seriously good at everything he does.
In Year 8 he was playing with the Year 12 Band in music class….. Because his Teacher could see that he had the potential to.
I started to spending time with him more over the years, but especially in his second last year of High School, when we hung out doing his Year 12 Research Project. We worked on a video for his Remote Control Hovercraft he developed by himself…. as you do at the age of 16. We used a smoke machine and crazy backlighting, then Matt Narrated on the video how he went about developing his concept.
From then on we chatted almost daily about Education, Business, The Stock Market and everything else in between. I would show him a book I was reading on Investing, then he would read the same book and four others in the same time I read a couple of chapters. His energy to learn was inspiring.
It was through this bloke, I learned so much more about the energy young people could put into anything they wanted…. especially when they weren’t being made to learn through standardisation. Matt taught me just as much as I taught him. He would finish reading books, then I would ask him to teach me about what he learned…. it was awesome when he used my whiteboard to go into depth about the Stock Market…. I learned so much!
Other times we would just dream about financial freedom and not being enslaved to the banking system…. you know, the usual conversations I have with young people.
Matt is about to start University, and he’s working towards a Robotic Engineering Degree, so keep an eye out for him in the future!
